…possibly based upon a true story

A Pointcrawl In 8 Points: Starting Point: Redstone City
.
Note: A pointcrawl is a way for a GM to map out an adventure that has a point to point path, at least for the main adventure. It is often, but not always, a sort of “on the road” setting. In this pointcrawl, our heroes will be going after a famous thief and the Really Important Thing she has stolen.
This Point: Our adventurers start out in Redstone City, where the local crime syndicate is pretty pissed off that DeeDee the Fox has stolen an iron case that contains something that “You don’t need to worry about.” The case is a 1 foot cube and has to be unlocked by a very high level mage. It has magical wards on it to prevent forcing it open.
The Mob is paying VERY well for you to bring it back. You’ll get double for bringing back DeeDee, too. Dead or alive, they aren’t picky. They give you 1,000 gold to buy equipment before you leave.
What you can do in Redstone City: Buy equipment…avoid the moneylender Fetoro, to whom you owe at least 5,000 gold…talk to Certain People about where DeeDee went when she lit out of town (She headed for Long Lake and Boatville)
What lies between here and Long Lake: 150 miles of farmland, few good sized towns and possible bandits.

A Pointcrawl In 8 Points: Point 2: Long Lake/Boatville
.
This Point: As the name implies, Long Lake is long. 60 miles long and averaging 2 miles wide. The south end is where you’ll find Boatville, a fairly large floating town built upon boats, barges and large rafts. People live on it because Long Lake is situated between the Trolltooth Mountains (home to the Great Grey Trolls) to the west and the Black Peaks (home to the Stone Ogres) to the east. The Trolls & Ogres hate each other and wage war often, but both hate the water, so they leave folks on the lake alone.
Boatville is both an important stop for cargo boats passing north or south, and a frontier town where anything goes.
What you can do in Boatville: Stop for a night’s rest and a hot meal…find out what anyone might know about DeeDee (she met up with two big swordsells and headed out on the next boat for Fort Ornok)…drink and carouse…get in fights…see what boats are heading up the lake and how much passage will cost…maybe take on a small delivery job (a sealed letter to General Dovino) to Fort Ornok at the other end of the lake.
What lies between here and Fort Ornok: Lots of water…Trolls & Ogres fighting like hell on both sides of the lake (they use underground tunnels beneath the lake to cross over)…somebody trying to steal the letter, if you have it)…an attack by fresh water krakens.

Blogging After The Year Of Doclopedia
As we all know, starting September first, this mad self inflicted challenge of doing two Doclopedia posts a day for 366 days will come to an end. I’ll probably stop doing Doclopedia posts for a month or two, then bring them back as 3 or 4 posts per week.
But what will I post on the blog? Well, there are a bunch of possibilities, so let me toss a few at you,
I’ve said I’m going to restart some ongoing fiction pieces, and I will. “Life On The Magic Bus”, “After The Change Came”, “Letters From Sister Bomia” and “Dungeon Diary” will all return for runs of around 6 to 10 weekly parts. There will be new short fiction series popping up throughout the year
I’m also going to start a series of pieces describing people, places and things in some genre that I have yet to decide upon.
Of course, you’ll also be able to read new entries for “Sasha Explains It All”, “Confessions Of A Time Traveler”, con reports (when cons become a thing again) and possibly some game reviews.
I’m not saying I won’t go nuts and do another year long Doclopedia challenge, but it won’t happen for at least a year. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy what I post, and please do comment to let me know what you think.
