Sister Bomia’s Adventure Diary #29
The Great City Of Moonbow
Wolfsday 3, Sun God Month, Year 25 of the Golden Emperor
Dear Diary,
After a three day long ride through woods and meadows, with about half of that being found on rather steep hills, we arrived at Moonbow late last night. We saw the city from the final hilltop about 3 hours before getting here, and it is a very large city indeed. Larger than Iriskan or Lamolor, and possibly as big as Imperial Koris itself. Furthermore, unlike those cities, it has no defensive walls. The entire city seems to be open, with a wide river flowing right through the middle of it.
We rode into Moonbow just after midnight. The city was still lit up and pretty busy. We found an inn with a stable and got our rooms. Once we had washed our faces, we went downstairs and ate. The dish on hand at that hour was a lovely fish chowder, with bread and butter on the side.
After eating and having a pint of a rather strong local ale, we retired for the night and promptly fell asleep for the next ten hours.
After our morning chores, we went down for breakfast. This was mostly sausages, eggs and bread, as it was nearly 1:00 PM by then. We decided that we would spend a few days here, so as to give our employers back home a really good report. And to not have our rear ends in a saddle for a while.
We spent much of the day wandering through about a quarter of Moonbow which we are told has a population of nearly a million people. That would make it about 200,000 people larger than Imperial Koris. That population is quite a mix, too. We have seen people of at least 6 species and 10 ethnicities.
Well, Diary, we are back at our inn now, taking a bit of a rest before going down for dinner, then going our separate ways for at least the evening, and possibly a couple of days. We’ve all decided to learn about the city from our own perspectives.
I will write about all of that next time.
