Well, That Was Unexpected: Susie Vanished

“So, we were all over at Tiffany’s because her parents were out of town and her older sister decided to go spend the night with her boyfriend, so Tiff says “Party Time!”

Well, she only invited like, 12 of us, but about 30 people showed up, which was about what Tiff expected anyway. So we’re all out in the backyard and the sun was just going down and this cute girl dressed in vintage Summer of Love clothes came in through the gate. She seemed a bit confused and shy and so Tiff asked her, you know, if she could help her.

The girl says her name is Susie and she used to live here in 1968. Well, she looked about 19 or 20, so she must have been about 3 in ’68. Tiff says she must have lived here when the first house burned down. Susie says yes, she lived here then, but doesn’t remember the fire.

Well, then Tiff offers her a soda and says she can hang out if she wants. Susie takes the soda and sits on a bench and then the party gets going again. Several of us talked to her and she was really nice. She must have been a fan of the 60’s, because she knew so much about it. I think Jason tried to hit on her, but she shot him down, which was good because he’s kind of a dick.

Anyway, it was about 11:00 and we were all dancing and stuff, when I see Tiff stop and her eyes get big. We ask her what happened and she points at the bench. Susie isn’t there. Tiff says she saw her vanish, like, you know, a ghost. Rudy says she must have walked out the side gate she came in, but Tom and Judy are in front of the gate making out and when we ask if Susie left that way, they say no.

By now, Tiff is seriously freaking out, so Rudy goes in to her dad’s bar and pours her some booze to calm her down. She sips on it and we calm her down and then everyone leaves except Rudy and I. After a while, Tiff calms down and we put her to bed. I was spending the night, so Rudy helps me clean up.

It was a pretty strange night.”
