A Few New Monsters: Mimic Slimes
This is a new form of slime with the shapeshifting abilities of a mimic. It is unknown if they simply evolved this ability, got it from eating a mimic, or are the results of some wizardly experiment.
Whatever the case, these creatures can form themselves to resemble things like dead bodies, piles of loot, trash, etc. Their shapeshifting is not as good as a mimic, but in the dim light of a cavern or dungeon, it’s good enough. Once their prey is within 5 feet of it, they shoot out anywhere from 2 to 5 thin pseudopods and grab hold. The pseudopods then inject a paralytic agent that works quickly. Then the slime engulfs the prey and dissolves flesh and bone over the course of several hours.
The average Mimic Slime weighs about 40 pounds and resembles muddy water when in it’s natural state. These slimes can be injured and killed by cold and electrical attacks.
