A Few New Monsters: Carnivorous Mice
Carnivorous mice resemble normal field mich, but are slightly larger and lighter in color. They also have very sharp teeth and large eyes that give them excellent night vision. Both the teeth and the eyes are important because these mice are carnivores and pack hunters.
And by pack, we mean swarms of from 50 to 300.
These mice come out mostly at night and send 3 or 4 individuals out in different directions. When one of these scouts finds a suitable, usually sleeping, individual, they emit a very high pitched squeal. Upon hearing it, the rest of the pack comes quickly and quietly. They then surround the prey before attacking all at once. Their bites are very painful and getting dozens or hundreds at once will send many creatures into immediate shock. Jumping up and running doesn’t do much, because most of the mice will hand on tightly and bite off as much as they can. Once the prey has lost enough blood and passes out, the rest of the mice catch up and the feast begins.
