The Long & Winding Road
Part 32
Ruins Of The Slime
Running for 80 miles through the northeast corner of the Smoking Land, this section of The Road passes through two ruined cities, and is still made of smooth lava.
The first ruin is encountered about 30 miles in. This city was once at least 3 miles across, but now looks about 2/3 that. No bit of building is over 10 feet tall, and most are half that. There is nothing living in these ruins except for plants.
And an enormous slime creature easily 300 feet across and 5 feel thick.
The slime may or may not be near The Road, which at this point rises up 30 feet above the ruins all the way across them. The slime will, however, sense the travelers and move quickly toward them. It may or may not be able to reach up to The Road, but it will certainly try. The slime cannot or will not leave the ruins.
The second set of ruins is in the middle of a warm, mineral rich, lake 12 miles long and 4 miles wide. The road crosses in the middle, but is only 10 feet above the lake. The ruins are crusted with mineral deposits and the lake is home to thousands of small slimes about 3 feet wide. These slimes will leave the ruins, and can move quite quickly.
