The Long & Winding Road

Part 18

The Rift

Upon leaving Foresta, the land starts to slope downward gently for about 40 miles, until it reaches the 50 mile long, 4 mile wide, and at least 1 mile deep, tear in the planet’s surface known as The Rift.

This part of the Road is smooth lava rock. It crosses The Rift at the centerpoint. There are 3 foot high side walls on the road at that point. If you look over the edge, you can see that the bottom, if there is one, is in total darkness.

The land around the Rift is rough, filled with large stones, and very inhospitable. Oddly, many springs create small creeks, all of which flow into the Rift. Once you cross the Rift, the Road slopes gently upward for another 40 miles.

Very few animals live in the area around the Rift.
