Pulp Era Villains: The Hooded Hummer
.
Clad entirely in gray and wearing a hood with just eye holes, the Hooded Hummer took his name from the tuneless humming he did when not actually speaking. He was an active criminal from May, 1930 until his death in an explosion in August of 1935.
Known primarily for planning complex robberies of museums and banks, he often ended these robberies with an explosion that destroyed evidence and sometimes, accomplices.
It was one of these explosions that killed the Hooded Hummer. He was unaware that the building was being flooded with hydrogen gas. He set off what was supposed to be a small explosion and leveled the museum he was in. When his body was recovered, it was found out that he was Carlton VanDerks, the wealthy layabout son of an industrialist.

Pulp Era Villains: Satan’s Messenger
.
Satan’s Messenger, AKA Father Alfred Ladely, was only active for a few months in 1933. Father Ladely was a dangerous psychopath who was fixated on religion and the thought that only he could punish sin. Why he took the title of Satan’s Messenger instead of God’s Messenger was never revealed.
His costume was red and black and included a full head covering Satan mask. He never had any accomplices.
Primarily a murderer who used both a dagger and arson to do his killing, Satan’s Messenger would kill a few people he considered sinners, then make a daring escape and hide out for a month or so. He died when, while using a zip line to get away after torching a penthouse apartment, the line was shot through by Doc Tempest using a high powered rifle.
