That Time Doc & I Went To…: The Gelato Factory
.

First off, I was unaware that we had not been invited to the place. I should have been suspicious when Doc picked me up at midnight, but I figured the company ran 24/7.

Well, we pulled up to the back door of the place and there was the night watchman sitting in his little guard shack. As we walked up to him, I realized that he was asleep. As Doc took the guard’s keys, he told me that the old guy would be asleep for about two hours, thanks to a little bit of sleep aid in his coffee thermos.

I protested a bit, but Doc is nothing if not a silver tongued devil, so before I knew it, we were inside the place and committing even more breaches of the law. As Doc said, in for a penny, in for a pound, so I figured if I got arrested, at least I’d have a belly full of gelato.

We ate way more gelato than is healthy. We even tried several new flavors that haven’t been released yet. Once we were done, we cleaned our bowls & silverware, grabbed about a dozen pints, and got out of there. We only stopped long enough for Doc to put the guard’s keys back and put a twenty dollar bill in his pocket. Then we hightailed it out of there.

Once I was home, I fell asleep for 10 hours, which was good, because it meant I was well rested for worrying about the police busting down my door for the next three weeks.

That Time Doc & I Went To…: The Place With The Floating Boulders

.

Have you ever gone anywhere with Doc on his bus? Oh, excuse me, it’s Bus. Got to capitalize it or she gets cranky.

Anyway, Doc invited me on a little shakedown run after Sasha, who is a genius dog, and this guy named Joe, who I’m pretty sure is not human, replaced some stuff that I cannot even pronounce. He said we’d only be gone about 3 hours and we’d have a great lunch. Not being one to pass up a free lunch, I agreed.

I’m going to skip over the description of the inside of the Bus, because Doc has mentioned it many times. I will tell you that his staff is top notch, especially Jeeves. So we had one of the best meals I’ve ever had, then we stepped off the Bus onto another Earth.

The boulders, maybe 20 of them, were floating. They ranged in size from about two feet across to maybe eight feet across. Some were only a few inches off the ground and some were several feet up. It was damned strange to see, I tell you. I mentioned it to Doc and he said it was indeed strange, but also cool. Then he pushed a boulder the size of a cow and sent it drifting across the small clearing we were in. Went it got about 100 feet away, it crashed to the ground.

“Drifted outside the float zone”, was all he said.

I pushed one that was beach ball size and it drifted into another boulder that was sort of shaped like a 5 foot long banana. The long boulder then started to slowly spin away, until it crashed into another. Pretty soon, boulders were drifting all over and things were getting a bit dangerous, so Doc and I got out of there and to a short hike up to the top of a hill.

We saw tiny dragons and a bumble bee the size of a cat and something that looked like a big snake with two long legs. Then, there were dancing mushrooms and a naked lady that turned into a giant goldfish and a tree that challenged us to a joke telling contest. By the time we had been on that Earth a couple of hours, I was beginning to wonder if I was going nutty.

We got back on the Bus and came home. Doc gave me a gallon of bacon flavored ice cream from his ice cream locker and told me it had been a lot of fun having me along. I thanked him and went home.

If you ever get the chance to go somewhere or somewhen on the Bus with Doc, I suggest you do it. It will be strange and fun.
