CritterCon 13, Con Day Three: In which a great deal of gaming related things happen, a family tradition is upheld, and lord have mercy, there are room parties!

I have been to 7 room parties in the last 6 hours. It is 3:10 in the morning. Sasha gave me an injection of SoberAll that will last just about long enough for me to write this quick and dirty recap of the day.

8:00 am: Ate breakfast by myself at Tamalemainia because I wanted beef tamales for breakfast.

9:00 am: Ran a 3 hour toon game, “CarToon Wars: The Dumbell Rally”. 12 players, 6 cars, tons of weapons, Interstate 80 across the USA. They didn't even make it to Utah, but we all laughed a bunch.

12:00 pm: The ever thoughtful Avis brought me lunch from India Underground. I scarfed it up while waiting for the first of two seminar panels I was on.

12:30 pm: “The Year Without Cons” was only 30 minutes long, but we had 6 folks Zooming in from around North America along with the 4 live panelists. We had 200 folks in the room. It will be on the con tv channels until Sunday night.

1:00 pm: By contrast, the “Ask The GMs Anything” panel was 6 live GMs, including Spike and Myself, in a room that holds 500 people. We fielded dozens of questions over 90 minutes, many of which actually had something to do with GMing or roleplaying. As always, big fun.

3:00 pm: A voice comes over the P.A. system for the entire con. It simply says, “Okay, folks, turn on your phones and get ready.” A few seconds later, t he piano into starts up and then an estimated 50,000 people started singing “Bohemian Rhapsody”. I cannot put into words how cool that was.

3:15 pm: I hit up Mink's Cold Drinks for a 48 ounce Green Tea, then head to my third and final game.

4:00 pm: The 5th Edition Pulp game I ran was a 1936 worldwide chase to stop Nazis from getting the pieces for an ancient and possibly magical “Sun Beam” weapon. I had 7 players, three of whom were Avis & Ginie as the Fiera sisters, two adventure loving pilots, and Gabe as Lou “Bullets” Falzone, reformed Chicago mobster and “Nazi hatin' red blooded American”. The game ended after a hell of a battle that took place on and in the skies around a zeppelin.

8:00 pm: Since we had all eaten various things brought to us by family & friends, we went back to our rooms where most of us prepared for the inaugural “Room Party Mania”.

9:00 pm: The party in our suite was the “No Shoes Party”. Everyone had to take off their shoes. Grace, Mary & Holly were our hostesses and there was a steady stream on folks coming and going. Most of the games were quick card & dice games.

Other parties I went to, either alone or with friends, were the “Hats or GTFO”, “Tell Us Your Geek Cred”, “Sing, Sing, Sing”, “Show Us Your Dice” and “Old Gaming Farts” parties. There were maybe 6 or 7 more in our hotel alone.

So that was Day 3, folks. I can feel the SoberAll wearing off, so I'm going to end this and j;'lpihd-floja//
