The Alphabet In A Week: A…B…C…D

A is for Amorizaklin, a Greater Green Dragon that lives in the Scattered Hills region of Preth. Measuring 110 feet from nose to tail, and with a 140 foot wingspan, Amorizaklin is the 4th largest dragon alive. He is, by all accounts, a peaceful fellow and a gracious host to those who come to visit him. Possessed of 300 years worth of knowledge mainly concerning the southwest portion of Preth, he enjoys talking to historians and sages. Like all dragons, he is a collector. In his case, his collection is mostly fine woodcarvings and wine. Those who give him gifts of these things may well get gifts in return.

B is for Betty Blaster, a well known bank robber and generally bad person. It is unknown where she got her trademark plasma blaster pistols, but it is all too well known how destructive they are.

Betty Blaster started her criminal career in 1975, when she blasted her way into the vault of the First City Bank of New York. During her escape, she destroyed 4 police vehicles and a dump truck. She also blasted the hero Action Guy across the street and halfway through Macy’s. Despite all of the destruction, nobody was killed, because Betty is “a goddamn bank robber, not a murderer.”

Betty Blaster is 38 years old, 5’5” tall, somewhat plump, and has brown hair and eyes. She should not be approached by anyone bit law enforcement or superheros.

C is for Curse of Barkenstein, a 2017 remake of the 1987 NHTFilms motion picture of the same name. It starred Luke Cross as Dr. Vincent Barkenstein, Dolly Houndle as Laura, Grits Sanders as Edgar, and Wolf Waggles as the Monster. It was directed by Pookie Gordon from a script by Fritzi Katters. It had a budget of 300,000 Credits and was shot over an 8 week period in early 2017. It was released to theaters and television on Halloween, 2017.

The film was a huge hit, in large part due to starring Luke from the hit TV series “Lucky Luke”, and Dolly from the “Sammi” motion picture series. Two sequels, “Bride of Barkenstein” and “Revenge of Barkenstein”, were filmed back to back in the summer of 2018. “Bride” was released in February of 2019, and “Revenge was released on Halloween of that year, just a few days before Luke Cross died.

D is for Deevilberries, which are small pink berries that grow on low vines. These vines are found all along the coastline if Kuziko Island in the western Pacific Ocean, although the are somewhat sparser along the colder south coast.

Deevilberries are very high in sugar, offering vital calories to the creatures that eat them. They also attract insects, which are eaten by other creatures. As for consumption by humans or other humanoids, the primary use for the berries is in the making of Deevil wine.

Deevil wine is a sweet, high alcohol drink that also possesses both curative and hallucinatory properties. The wine is typically aged in granite tanks for a minimum of 2 years, but often up to five. Once bottled, it fetches a good price, especially in the shops of Coral City, Idwal, and Vurveston.

A much less well known fact about Deevilberries is that they are highly poisonous to skordips, quools, and other creatures of the Constant Dark. Anyone passing through those cursed lands would do well to take some Deevilberry syrup to dip their arrows in and coat their swords with.
