Ducks Of Distinction: Pappy & Doris

Names: Pappy & Doris Foyle

Ages: 5 years old

Professions: Pets

When Pete and Lacey Foyle found a mother duck recently slain by some predator, they also found a nest with two unbroken, but still slightly warm, eggs in it. Being kindhearted, they took the eggs home and put them in an incubator to see if they would hatch. Two weeks later, both eggs hatched and the two ducklings immediately imprinted on the Foyles as their parents.

It didn’t take long to realize that Pappy and Doris, as they were now known, were not normal ducks. For one thing, by the time they were 3 weeks old, they were as big as full sized adult White Pekin ducks. At 2 months, they were larger than adult geese. At 4 months, they had doubled in size. At this point, the Foyles had some scientists come look at them.

The general consensus was that their patrent ducks had probably been exposed to atomic radiation, thus mutating the babies. Since the ducks seemed to be very tame and love their humans, the scientists decided to just keep an eye on them.

Pappy and Doris stopped growing at 8 months, which put them at roughly the size of a full grown hippopotamus. In all respects, they behave like normal ducks. They live a very good life and are a big tourist attraction, as well as being the subject of children’s books, tv shows, and a couple of movies.
