Gaming Stuff
For the upcoming Modern Day Weird Shit series, I’m creating the characters for my players. They will get a few extra points to add onto skills and such, but 95% of the character creation is going to be my doing.
One thing I’m doing is giving each character a medium level Special Power. To make these powers easily understandable, I’m drawing them from popular media. So far, I have Jedi Mind Trick, Vulcan Mindmeld and Spider Sense. I need to think of a fourth one. Perhaps Ghost Whiperer. Hmmm…more on this as it develops.
As far as bad guys go, while there will be some group of nefarious baddies behind most, if not all, of the Weird Shit, I don’t really need have them do too much to stir things up. After all, each PC is a loyal repesentative of a different government agency, so I reckon they’ll be stirring up enough trouble as they plot, backstab, lie and otherwise hose each other.
Pacingwise, I kinda see the whole series starting out slow and eventually building up to a breakneck pace at the end. Of course, players (especially my players) being what they are, this could all change over the course of the game. I’m sure there will be at least one session of Screwing Around and another of Doing The Wrong Thing. As GM, I can herd them in the right direction, but sometimes the sheer entertainment value of watching them do all the wrong things trumps moving the story along:)
