Legendary Snakes: The Golden Viper

Sought after by treasure hunters and archaeologists for 150 years, the Golden Viper is an artifact of great value and mystery. Supposedly made in India somewhere around 1610, the piece shows a viper about 3 feet long draped over a human skull. The skull is carved from ivory and the snake is solid gold with emeralds for eyes. Should it come up for sale, it would fetch at least twenty million dollars. Unfortunately, the odds of the Golden Viper coming up for sale are very slim. It resides in a small room in an underground maze built by a lost civilization 3,000 years ago in what is now the Democratic Republic of Congo. Nobody knows who took it there, but cultists are suspected.

This fact is not known to anyone, partly because rumors and legends put the entrance to the “Viper’s Nest” anywhere from Tanzania to Cameroon. Many explorers have died looking for it
