Strange Shops: Good Hats
(A tip of the old bandana to Alan Portman for inspiring this theme.)
Hey, everybody likes Good Hats, ya know? Their selection is great, the prices are fair, and you always get the hat you need. And that’s the strange part, right there. You get the hat you neeed, not necessarily the hat you came in wanting.
Case in point: My brother Dale went in wanting to buy a Aussie bushman’s hat. He thought he’d look rugged and cool, and he probably would have. But then he tried of a broad brimmed slouch hat like The Shadow wore in the comic books and while he was looking at himself in the mirror, he sees this hot looking brunette looking at him. Next thing you know, they’re talking, then he buys the hat and asks her out for coffee. Next month, they’ll have their 12th wedding anniversary.
Another strange one was my aunt’s friend, Tomiko, goes to buy a hat and ends up with a red beret. A week later, a casting director sees her and thinks she could be the “Artistic Best Friend” in a Hollywood chick flick. Three years later, she’s done four movies and is now starring in a Netflix series.
So, yeah, sure, go in and look at the hats. Maybe you’ll get the one you need.
